Applicable to the 2026/27 Academic Year

1. Policy Overview

If, after completing a booking for the 2026/27 academic year, you are formally offered a university-approved placement year in a location that is not reasonably commutable from your booked Now Student Living accommodation, you may be eligible to cancel your booking without penalty, subject to the terms of this policy.

2. Eligibility Criteria

2.1 This policy applies only where:

  • The placement forms part of an approved placement year confirmed by your university or college; and
  • The placement location is in a different city, as defined in Section 3; and
  • The placement takes place during the 2026/27 academic year.

2.2 You must notify Now Student Living and submit all required documentation before the start date of your 2026/27 tenancy agreement.

3. Definition of “Different City”

For the purposes of this policy, a placement will be considered to be in a different city where:

  • The placement location is not reasonably commutable within one (1) hour each way by public transport from the booked Now Student Living accommodation.

If the placement location can be reached within one (1) hour each way via public transport, you will be expected to proceed with your booking and this policy will not apply.

4. How to Apply

4.1 To qualify for a cancellation under this policy, you must provide written evidence of your placement within 72 hours of receiving official confirmation from your university or college.

4.2 All documentation must be emailed to the contact email address for the residence you have booked, as shown in your booking confirmation email.

4.3 Documentation must be received by Now Student Living within 72 hours of the date shown on the official correspondence confirming your placement.

5. Evidence Required

To be released from your tenancy agreement under this policy, you must supply written confirmation from your university or college verifying:

  • That the placement forms part of an approved placement year;
  • The location of the placement; and
  • The dates the placement will take place.

Only verified, university-approved placements will be accepted under this policy.
Placements that are self-sourced, informal, employer-only, or not formally confirmed by the university will not qualify.

6. Verification and Discretion

6.1 All documentation provided will be reviewed and verified by Now Student Living.

6.2 Now Student Living reserves the right to:

  • Request additional information or clarification where required; and
  • Assess whether the placement meets the eligibility criteria of this policy, including commute time and location.

6.3 Approval of a cancellation under this policy is at the reasonable discretion of Now Student Living.

7. Outcome of an Approved Cancellation

Where a cancellation request is approved:

  • The tenancy agreement will be cancelled without penalty; and
  • Any deposit or advance rent paid will be refunded in full.

8. False or Misleading Information

If any information or documentation provided is found to be false, misleading, incomplete, or inaccurate, Now Student Living reserves the right to:

  • Decline or reverse the cancellation;
  • Reinstate the tenancy agreement; and/or
  • Recover any costs, rent, or losses incurred as a result.

9. Important Notes

9.1 This policy applies only to placement years taking place during the 2026/27 academic year.

9.2 Where a placement is deemed to be within commutable distance, you will be expected to continue with your booking and standard tenancy terms will apply.

10. General

This policy forms part of Now Student Living’s booking and tenancy framework for the 2026/27 academic year.

Now Student Living reserves the right to amend or withdraw this policy at any time.
